Why a Castlekeep Buck?…..A Review of the Buck Boys of 2016 Says it Best!

Castlekeep Halifax

Sire:  CH Castlekeep Easy Sam           Dam:  Castlekeep Ellie
  • Halifax….about 3 months old. Longer & taller by the day! Triplet Brother to Hondo and HanaBella
Halifax – scratching his head – about 2 months old
Today…Halifax is herdsire @ ABACA Farm in Madill, Ok.  He has a wonderful new “goat family” and we are so pleased they chose a Castlekeep buckling for their herd sire.  I’m told Halifax is the same calm, sweet buck today as the day he left Castlekeep for his new home. We look forward to hearing about this young buck..and his ventures into the show ring during 2017.  We believe he will be a mighty force!   Halifax kids will be arriving in February and we can hardly wait to see the pictures!
Halifax & Christy. He’s about 10 months old. @ ABACA Farm

    Castlekeep Hondo

  • Sire:  CH Castlekeep Easy Sam              Dam:  Castlekeep Ellie

Hondo is triplet brother to Halifax and to sister HanaBella
Hondo is herd sire here in Oklahoma on a family farm in Lincoln County.  The family’s primary interests were the ability to provide a year round supply of goat milk to their family and have does breeding & freshening year round in abundance.  They fell in love with both sire (Sam) and dam (Ellie) who brought so much size, strength of bone and regal handsomeness to Hondo – not to mention Ellie’s first freshener status & birthing  triplets (28 # total kid birthing weight)  and coming in milk producing over 8#/day.  Did I mention….Ellie is a big girl.  Hondo’s first kids are due in February 2017 and we anxiously await first kid photos!

Castlekeep Hidalgo

Sire:  CH Castlekeep Farm Freedom  Dam:  Wilkins Farm RW Zuri
Castlekeep Hidalgo – at attention! 2 months old. Standing next to his tri-color twin Himalaya (retained) and behind him (rear end of – 3 mo old Castlekeep Hondo)
Castlekeep Hidalgo – DOB: 03/06/2016 twin brother to Castlekeep Himalaya
Castlekeep Hidalgo (under 3 mo old) judged Reserve Senior Champion stands next to Castlekeep Easy Sam Grand Champion at the Mo-Kan 5/2016 INBA Specialty Ring
Hidalgo was a show stopper from his first breath. Proud from the get-go.   He won his first ADGA leg toward permanent champion status as a kid at the MO-Kan in May 2016 following up with more JR. Champion wins in Sedalia Missouri the weekend of September 3, 2016.  At the close of the Sedalia show Hidalgo left for his new home with Turnback Creek Dairy Goats and an awesome new Mom.   I look forward to hearing more about Hidalgo as he grows and matures and of course we are anxious to see new kid photos come spring 2017.

Castlekeep Highway

Sire:  CH Castlekeep Easy Sam  Dam:  Castlekeep Farm Idelia Rain
Highway…Tall, Long & Wide + Big, blonde & Handsome

Serene & Calm.  So unique in his color and markings – beautifully blond/ with a strawberry tinge to face and ears,  white spots which eventually faded into light blonde with black stripes and the beginnings of a beautiful black “martingale”.   He was wide…very wide and very tall with perfect length to match.   Always a beautiful calm grace about him – holding his head and tail high.  Highway loved attention and would stand quietly while the other bucklings romped and rared as long as we were by his side.  He showed very well, winning his class in several rings and finishing his “buck show” tour with Castlekeep at the Autumn Romance in Sedalia Missouri.   Highway left us to herdsire at Lazy E Farm in Missouri following the Autumn Romance Show 9/4/2016.  We miss this gentleman and look forward to admiring him from ringside in 2017.

Castlekeep Harper

Sire:  CH Castlekeep Farm Freedom     Dam:  Castlekeep Echo
Castlekeep Harper – DOB 03/04/2016

Harper….”ladies man” from the beginning.  Full of vigor and an electric energy, this boy displayed his testosterone on day one in the kid box in the house.  Almost as soon as he could stand he was blubbering and pawing – once again the apple had not fallen far from the tree.  Born 03/04/2016 he and his two brothers were 10 pounds each – muscular, heavy boned and loaded with testosterone.  Each very different in color and markings but….all the same – they had the “stuff” and were highly self aware.   The morning Harper left for his new home @ Faire Dale Farm he strolled straight for the doeling yard…whispered a few sweet nothings, kissed the girls, (and made them cry)…then diss’d the cat and said goodby.  Look Out…. Faire Dale Farm….here comes the King – he was more than ready to prove he had “the right stuff”.
